To desire the infinite is what we were created for.

Ever wonder why the world fills their bodies and souls with things that will temporarily satisfy? The countless nights people wake up in another person’s bed, or the nights they drink to the point they can’t remember what happened the night before and they do it over and over again? The human person longs to be known. Every individual craves affection and attention. By our nature, we were created to receive and to give love. This is written in our DNA. We all have a longing in our hearts for the infinite, but we settle for the finite. We become okay with settling for what is temporary, because in many ways that is so much easier to attain. Our longing for the infinite requires immense trust and faith and that can be difficult, but what if I told you that we don’t have to settle anymore? We can long for the infinite and be satisfied.

I remember the countless nights I drank to the point where I thought every drink would satisfy what my soul was yearning for. Or the nights I would settle for a love that was solely physical, thinking this would satisfy my desire for love. My yearning was there to direct me to a love that no amount of alcohol, and no person on this earth could fill. It was God’s gaze in the Eucharist that healed my heart. It was His gaze that I encountered true freedom and a radical love. It was this love that satisfied every desire of my heart and it didn’t leave me unsatisfied but fulfilled. This love was not solely for me, but awaits for you. When we live for something greater than ourselves it draws us to be the best version of ourselves, and gives us the deepest fulfillment as a result. There is something freeing about living and desiring something that is at times beyond our comprehension because due to its nature it presents endless possibilities, and a lifetime of hope that you were meant to experience on this earth.

The infinite love you were created for longs for you in return. The infinite thirsts to be with you. It longs to remind you all that you were created for and all you were made to be.

You were made with infinite goodness. Every fiber of your being was made by love, for love, and to love. You have dignity and worth that can never be taken away from you no matter what you have done or where you have been. If this was not possible I would not be writing this blog.

Whatever it is your yearning for God can fill!

  1. Be open to what He is asking of you.
  2. Let His gaze shine upon you.
  3. Sit in the silence and let Him speak to you.
  4. You are loved beyond measure.
  5. You are never alone on this journey!
  6. Your life is a GIFT.
  7. Go out and share it with the world!

Take time and take this to prayer, wherever you are on your journey. We are called to share this truth with everyone we encounter. But first you were made to hear it again!

“It is Jesus that you seek when you dream of happiness; He is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; He is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is He who provoked you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is He who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is He who reads in your heart your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle. It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be ground down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.” St. John Paul the II

About the Author

Myra heard of the Culture Project through a video she saw at a young adult conference. She was moved by the message in 2014 & thought to herself maybe one day that could be me helping make a change in a world that's in dire need! Growing up in beautiful CA, Myra decided to take a leap of faith and transfer to Franciscan University in 2017 and graduated in Dec of 2018 with a BA in Theology. Myra answered the call from Christ to apply and become a Culture Project missionary because of the desire and hope to see a culture restored. Myra hopes to continue to be a light to the people she will encounter and that her story and the Culture Projects message will change the heart & minds of many.
